Wavy Planet

My name is Michelle, but I go by MK. I was born in Mexico City and grew up in Texas. My DJ name is "Wavy Planet" because I love music from all over the world and in different languages. I love cross cultural collaborations and genre fusions. I'm also a registered nurse and believe mental and spiritual health are as important as physical health; I used to volunteer for a suicide prevention text line providing free crisis intervention by texting HOME to 741741. I often used music to help bring people from a hot moment to a cool calm. It's also my love language to share music with others. My favorite past time is exchanging favorite tracks with friends and strangers.

I enjoy DJing to bring good vibes to events and see people experience joy. I like DJing in community-based spaces, intentional spaces, birthday parties, as well as clubs and raves. I'm inspired by local Austin DJs who are also human rights advocates. I hope to bring more music in other languages to the local club scene here and to community events. I also want to incorporate more variety of EDM genres in the queer club spaces in Austin.
